  «Que de joie, de bonheur...»   Voilà, à mon humble avis, ce que tous les membres de la chorale des South Shore Saints ont ressenti lors de ce magnifique concert annuel intitulé " Tout le monde à bord " présenté le samedi soir 18 novembre dernier, au Collège Durocher- Saint-Lambert, devant 300 personnes. Premier acte : une superbe reprise de notre doublé : I’ve Been Working on the Railroad et B&O Line , en costumes d’époque: une entrée remarquée!     Deuxième acte : deux quatuors maison: 4Give n 4 Get et le tout nouveau HarmonyMen .       Troisième acte : hommage à nos mères: That’s an Irish Lullaby et Ange de mon berceau .   Quatrième acte , le plat de résistance : le quatuor invité de la Nouvelle-Angleterre, Daily Special. Quatre jeunes hommes qui pratiquent le chant avec entrain et harmonie.  Des amis quoi!     Au retour de la pause , un clin-d’œil au vieux style barbershop : Caroline et Sentimental Gentleman from Georgia , suivi de notre réputé

Throughout the year, there was a general sense of excitement in the chorus that our annual show, “All Aboard (Tout le monde à bord)”, would be truly special, not least because of one of the most prominent guest quartets we have welcomed in recent years, Daily Special.   Chorus singing Under the Boardwalk       From May to October, we worked hard on our songs for the Northeastern District (NED) Fall Convention and the show.  Our director introduced us to a vocal production bootcamp program, providing us with exercises focusing on a few points each week to help the ideas sink in.  At the NED Convention in October, we came away with performances that again exceeded our results in the spring.  We were also pleasantly surprised by the enthusiastic reception we received when the owners of the restaurant where we celebrated asked us to sing for their customers ( https://fb.watch/oJ8bwBCaL6/ ).  By the time we returned, we felt confident about performing at our annual show.    Chorus singing Ç

Bienvenue au quatuor Barbershop “Daily Special” sur notre scène!   Lors de notre spectacle annuel, nous accueillerons le quatuor invité Daily Special, quatuor de réputation internationale, tant pour le divertissement qu'il offre que par son propre album.   La présentation annuelle du spectacle de la chorale des South Shore Saints Barbershop aura lieu le samedi 18 novembre 2023 au Collège Durocher St-Lambert.  Des quatuors issus de la chorale seront également au programme.  La plus améliorée : c'est notre but à titre de chorale. Notre Directeur musical de longue date Alan Briand nous inculque cet état d'esprit. Lors de concours, la chorale compétitionne avec d'autres chorales de toutes tailles et environnements; des choses que nous ne pouvons pas contrôler.  Pour nous, le but est de s'améliorer de fois en fois.  Nous somme choyés d'avoir notre Directeur musical Alan Briand et Assistant-directeur Steven Wheaton, qui cumulent à eux deux une expérience incroyable, et ont érigé les fondations de nos récents succès. Dans la Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS), les chorales sont organisées en districts, et en division à l'intérieur des districts.  La chorale South Shore Saints fait parti de la Division Mountain du Northeastern District (NED).  NED organise les concours du printemps et de l'automne.  Les chorales se qualifiant lors de la convention du printemps sont invitées à celle d'automne.   La chorale a compétitionné seize fois

  Most Improved, every year:  This is our goal as a chorus.    Our long-time director, Alan Briand, has installed this mindset in each of us. At contest, the chorus competes against other choruses of all sizes and from various background; all things we cannot control.  For us, the goal is to improve ourselves, time after time.   We are so fortunate to have our Music Director Alan Briand and Assitant-Director Steven Wheaton with us, for with the experience they have accumulated over the years, they have laid the foundations for the recent successes of our chorus. In the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS), choruses are organized into Districts, and in Divisions within districts.  The South Shore Saints Chorus is part of the Mountain Division of the Northeastern District (NED).  NED organises division contest in Spring and Fall.  Those choruses that qualify at the Spring contest can compete at the district level in the Fall.   The Chorus competed sixteen years (we could not compete in 2

On the evening of Saturday, September 30, 2023, the South Shore Saints were invited to perform at a fundraising event—an Italian Night Spaghetti Dinner—sponsored by the Saint Raymond Parish in Candiac, Quebec.    Though this event was new to me, it was evidently not the first time the chorus had sung at the venue, an elegant, spacious, and well-equipped recreation/community center, with numerous rooms that could have served for our warm-ups. The relaxed manner of all our members seemed to portend a joyous evening of singing.   It was only a few weeks ago that Frank Kermit became the newest member of the chorus. Yet in that short amount of time, he made remarkable progress in learning our repertoire and infused the chorus with a big dose of passion and plenty of ideas.   On this night, clad in fashionably entertaining attire, he took to the stage to introduce the chorus—in Italian no less, drawing on his roots—to a sizable audience (nearly a hundred or more?). South Shore Saints Spaghetti Dinner on 23rd September 2023 This is one of the South Shore Saints signature events of the year.  It’s an occasion for us to express our gratitude to all of our friends and family who make it possible for us to pursue our most cherished pastime.  Naturally, members work hard behind the scenes, pitching in to help out in countless ways to make the event a success.    Since joining the Saints in 2021, I’ve attended this event twice.  The first time, I was awed by how well the event was organized.  I love how we all help each other out.  The energy our members bring to this occasion every time makes this humbly named event a unique spectacle year after year.  And this year’s supper was no less memorable.   Saturday Seventy-seventh Special Spaghetti Supper this year, on Saturday, September 23, 2023, was particularly special.  It marked the 77th birthday of our immediate-past president, Guy Filion.  It's hard to find a more steadfast advocate for our chorus

Spaghetti Dinner Fund Raising Event / Levée de fonds Dîner Spaghetti This past Saturday, 23rd September 2023, the South Shore Saints Chorus held a Spaghetti Dinner fund raising event.  In the tradition of their previous spaghetti dinners, the chorus offered a set of Barbershop style songs .    Two quartets also performed.  4Give n 4Get , with a replacement Barytone and Harmony Men who performed in public for the very first time.   

  Venez vous joindre à nous !  Au menu : spaghetti, et aussi amitié et chansons. Les 27 et 28 octobre 2023, la chorale South Shore Saints participe au concours du NorthEastern District de la Barbershop Harmony Society.  Afin de participer à ce concours de Disctrict, la chorale South Shore Saints s'est qualifiée lors d'un concours de division en avril.  Elle est d'ailleurs la seule chorale québécoise à s'être qualifiée pour cet événement. Les fonds amassés lors de cette soirée serviront à défrayer une partie des coûts.
