"Barbershop Is Love" is Here!

Our annual show is now just around the corner!  It is the prime event we prepare for each year.  If we liken our activities across the year to those marking the stages in climbing a mountain, our annual show marks the point where we reach the summit.  Accordingly, we learn, practice, master, and polish our repertoire throughout the year to deliver an unforgettable performance for our audience right at this time.

Two years ago, our show “Together Again—À nouveau ensemble” allowed us to finally reconnect with an audience again for the first time since 2020.  Last year’s show, “All aboard—Tout le monde à bord”, took our audience on a train ride down memory lane, alongside the delightful antics of Daily Special, our invited quartet, one of the most fun-loving groups in the barbershop world.  I speak on behalf of all our members in recalling the thrill we felt basking in the lengthy applause we received after our final number.

The South Shore Saints: Established in 1960 with one of their original charter members Don Gillespie as their first director, the chorus has been a mainstay in the Barbershop Harmony Society's Northeastern District (NED). The chorus will celebrate its 65th Anniversary next year.

This year’s show is titled “Barbershop is Love—Barbershop est amour”.  What’s that, you say?  All we’ve done is to bring into focus what barbershoppers feel and strive to convey to you, our audience, with every song that the chorus, its three quartets, and our special invited quartet SKARmony will perform in the show!  So, get ready to take your handkerchiefs out, to wipe your tears of joy, sorrow, laughter, nostalgia, and gladness.  For whatever the many-splendored forms love may take, you’re sure to come away feeling renewed in spirit at the end of a spectacular evening!

Recycled Parts: The current chapter quartet with the most experience and an extensive list of accomplishments at NED Division/District Conferences since 2022.  Their ballads strike home.

4Give n 4Get: Formed in 2022, they love hamming it up with upbeat oldies.

Harmony Men: The newest chapter quartet brought together this year, they live up to their name in their renditions of soulful songs from the 50's 60's and 70's. 

SKARmony: Our special invited quartet, whose members' first initials comprise the letters SKAR.  With a collective experience of more than 140 years of barbershop singing, they love making music, entertaining audiences, and having fun seriously, but not "too seriously."
